The importance of reflection in the learning process cannot be overestimated. Without reflection, learning turns into a mere action and with reflection any experience in our lives can be turned into a learning. Through reflection we analyse and create the meaning of our experiences, link our behaviours to underlying attitudes, increase awareness of ourselves, make connections with our past and future.
Watch the following videos and complete specific tasks to get a badge.
“Reflective learning is a process that involves self-examination, where youth workers evaluate their practices and identify areas for growth and improvement. It offers a transformative opportunity for both personal and professional development, enabling youth workers to develop a deeper understanding of the young people they work with and design more effective programmes. To facilitate this process for themselves, youth workers can employ various methods of reflective learning.”
What meaning and value do you give to reflection in non-formal learning? How beneficial reflection do you find for your professional development?
- Step 2. In the peer group of youth workers, discuss the meaning of reflection to you and name up to 3 things on the value of reflection in a non-formal education and youth workers’ professional development process. Share your ideas with other youth workers in the Activity forum.
